Close your eyes and imagine yourself listening to soulful music by the river whilst a family of otters swim nearby. Now open your eyes and welcome yourself to FOREST UNPLUGGED – a very organic and gentle amalgam between the forest, music and you.

Conceptualised in 2019, Forest Unplugged brings a very organic feeling of accessing the synthesis between the forest, music and you. And that is why we chose to not accentuate the sounds with any electronic interference; hence FOREST UNPLUGGED.

MEET THE MUSICIANS (March 2024)

Mohit Lal
Tabla

Tabla player Mohit Lal is the son of legendary kathak dancer & Pakhawaj player Late Pt. Durga Lal of Jaipur Gharana and has also studied the Ajrada gharana of Tabla under Late Ustad Hashmat Ali and Ustad Akram Khan. He has been part of many collaborations such as being part of Advaita, Temple of Drum, WEME, Jass B’stards and many collaborations with many artists in India and abroad. He is also composer and producer for his set up called Mo’s selective.

Dr. Sina Fakhhrodin
Tombak & Kurdish Daf

Percussionist Sina Fakhroddin has mastery over multiple Persian and Middle Eastern percussion instruments including his principal instrument -Tombak, and the Kurdish Daf. Trained under his uncle, Tombak player Saeed Abbasi, his playing embodies numerous styles of maestros such as Bahman Rajabi, Pedram Khavar Zamini, and Navid Afghan, as he took guidance from all mentioned maestros. Sina has lived in India for the past 18 years performing and collaborating with top musicians from throughout India and has shared the stage with artists such as Abida Parveen and Hansraj Hans. He has received his Bachelor, Master, and M.Phil degree in Hindustani Classical Music and has also accomplished his Ph.D

Fateh Ali Khan
Sitar

Fateh Ali Belongs to the sixth generation of a family of Sarangi Players of Moradabad Gharana. He was initiated into vocal music from an early age of seven by his grandfather late Ustad Siddique Ahmed Khan , who was the undisputed Sarangi maestro of the Moradabad Gharana. At a very young age, he found his joy “SITAR”, into which he was initiated by the great Sitar maestro Shri Satish Kumar who belongs to Dharwar Fateh is also a member of several unique Classical/Ethnic/Fusion/Rock Bands in India, including Soul Samvaad, 7 Essence, Rock Veda, and World Ethnic Music Ensemble.

Ejaz Hussain
Sarangi

Ejaz Hussain comes from a rich musical family background where music has been going on in the family for generations. His grandfather was a renowned Tabla Maestro Ustad Bundu Khan Sahib of Ajarara gharana from Meerut. But for Ejaz it was the musical instrument sarangi which persuaded him to go through the rigorous training to learn this art form. Inspired by the sound of this magnificent instrument Ejaz started learning the sarangi under the traditional Guru- Shishya Parampara from the legendary Padma Bhushan & Padmashree Awardee Ustad Sabri Khan Sahib and his son Ustad Kamal Sabri Sahib at the very young age of 12. Ejaz gave his first stage performance at the age of 14 & since then he never looked back. He has performed at several well-known concerts as both a soloist and accompanying his Gurus. He recently won the prestigious Ministry of Culture Scholarship Award, the best instrumentalist award by Chinamaya Center of music and the Surmani. He has also won the Sangeet Natak Academy scholarship award. Apart from pure Indian classical music, Ejaz loves to experiment with different sounds and forms of music and has performed with bands like Panaha, Boom Shankar, Fusion Sync etc.

Vocalist
